  • A total of two two-dimensional pieces for age group 5-12 years and a total of three two-dimensional pieces for age group 13-25 years is required.

  • A new original artwork piece is required for all age groups. All artworks that go through to the finales will be exhibited at the Grand Finale which will take place at the Atterbury Theatre between 24-27 September 2021.
  • There is no theme for the Grand Finale. The artist can decide.

  • All entries are to be for sale at a market-related price at the Grand Finale held at Atterbury Theatre between 24 – 27 September 2021.
  • The entrant must provide a selling price for each work. Kids Talent Festival will deduct a 20% commission on all sales.
  • Size requirements.
    • Age group 5-10 Years: 30cm x 20 cm.
    • Age group 11-16 years: 30cmx40cm.
    • Age group 17-25 years: 60cmx90cm
  • Participants selected for semi-finals will be notified via email by a member of the Kids Talent Festival team.


  • Please arrange the delivery of your artwork to arrive at our office by no later than 15h00 on 15 August 2021.
  • The participant is solely responsible for any damage or loss to the artworks. Kids Talent Festival will not be held responsible for any loss or damage whether or not caused by their negligence.
  • Works must be delivered unwrapped, with the entry form firmly attached to the back of the artwork
  • No deliveries of artworks will be accepted after the 30th of June 2021.
  • No wet, or slightly wet paintings will be accepted! Pastel and charcoal drawings must be treated with a suitable fixative.


  • Kids Talent Festival will announce the Grand Finale participants by 17 September 2021. These names will also be published on our social media platforms and website.
  • Unselected work can be collected from our office address from 28 September 2021 from 9h00 to 16h00 daily.
  • The work will be unwrapped. Should you collect or appoint a courier to collect your work from our office, please arrange for the courier to wrap your work(s) appropriately for transport.  Kids Talent Festival cannot supervise the wrapping of artworks when collected.
  • Any works not collected by the 30th of November 2020 will be considered a donation.

Competition dates

The entry form with the registration and entry fee, identification document and digital copy of artwork are to be received at the email address below by no later than 30 June 2021.

Semi-finals: Gauteng: 21 – 25 July 2021 (depending on Covid-19 restrictions at the time. Alternatively it will be an online event).

Grand finale exhibition, adjudication and presentation of prizes: 21 – 26 September 2021.

Grand Finale
Grand Finale exhibition and adjudication will take place at Atterbury theatre.

Masterclasses preparation

  • Winners of the Masterclasses must be prepared for a 60-minute session.
  • Masterclasses are for public exhibition. All participants and teachers are encouraged to attend sessions to learn from the techniques presented.  An entrance fee of R25.00 per person may be levied at the door.

General Competition Rules

  • A certified copy of birth certificate, passport or identification document is required.
  • The formal competition will take place over 3 rounds in an elimination format.
  • Audition round: A YouTube link played by the entrant representing contrasting styles.
    • Semi-Finals is a public performance.
    • Grand Final is a public performance.
  • Please note: Entrants may be requested to verify or authenticate their recordings by personal performance of short excerpts from pieces chosen prior to their participation in the Semi-finals.
  • The Semi-finals will take place over a two-day period. The venue will be allocated according to the category. Competitors will be notified of their status via email.
  • The Grand finale adjudication will take place over a single day.
  • The judge’s decision is final.
  • This competition is open to persons from the ages of 5 to 25 years. The age of a contestant will be deemed as at 31 August 2021.
  • All prize winners from previous competitions may enter.
  • The Executive Committee has the right to amend the age category of the contestant if it is established that the contestant has entered the incorrect category.
  • If a contestant competes in a round where the adjudicator is also the contestant’s teacher, a second adjudicator will be present for those contestants to ensure that there are no irregularities.
  • No agents, coaches, teachers, team leaders or make-up artists will be allowed backstage during the competition. Only one guardian will be able to accompany contestants to and from backstage.
  • Parents and guardians will be responsible for their minor children at all times before, during and after the competition.
  • The Executive Committee reserves the right to cancel a category or this competition at any time if deemed necessary in its opinion or if circumstances are outside of its control. Entry fees will not be refunded under any circumstances whatsoever including, but not limited to the contestant wishing to withdraw from the competition.
  • No flash photography may be used in any of the venues during the competition and all phones must be switched to silent.
  • No intimidation of any contestant by any party or other contestants will be tolerated and all contestants are urged to be highly professional.
  • Pictures and performance may be used by the competition for all social media and advertising purposes without remuneration.
  • Prize giving will follow shortly after the final performance.
  • All competitors must report at least 20 minutes before their allocated time in each round. Clean, unmarked copies of works to be performed must be presented in triplicate.  Original sheet music must be available.
  • Costumes and props must be age appropriate and full competition wear will be required.
  • Dress code in the final round is formal.
  • Stage etiquette is compulsory.
